Karam

Karam is an introspective, original theatre production that follows the lives of three fresh graduates from different backgrounds as they join the workforce.

The first was schooled in religious education; the second, secular education; and the third switched from religious to secular education after primary school. As they embark on their new journeys, each of them handles the transition very differently; their thinking and decisions shaped by the very education they have received.

Karam is a story of self-discovery put up by SMU Malay Language and Cultural Club. It highlights real and emotionally charged issues facing many young people in the Malay community today.  The music accompaniment features the Kompang, a traditional Malay drum often seen at festivities.
